Brian, I love all your videos especially the cool layouts you feature but your buying videos are very creative and a lot of fun as well. So much fun to look back at the year and see what you're going to buy. Keep them coming. Steve

Really amazing video on this. I really like the father/son set right there in the catalog as well as the Norfolk and western 746 4-8-4 northern. I also have the 243 locomotive in my collection.

Thanks Brian, that was fun! Interesting to see what's rare, never seen many of those boxes! Also a mint boxed 2555w father son set must be worth $$$$$'s now!

Great job Brian, unfortunately the dual set was a commercial failure when it came out, very expensive and two different scales. I have never seen one of these sets come up for sale. If only we could really go back in time. So much fun to think about it.

In the nineteen sixties, Madsion Hardware, Blums Hobby House of Cleveland started catering to collectors....As early as 1961, Blums, would note collector item in their list.
I think this was to move inventory....Polks Hobby in New York on Fifty Avenue, closed Lionel out, and the last few items they sold for $1.00....I purchased several items.
I live in Lincoln, Nebraska, our local repair shop, Steve's Railroad Yard in the late fifties told me thinks were going to be collectible, and he bought closeouts. I was 10 years old,
but he was right....Thanks for your great program.

I like the historical perpective you provide to Postwar Lionel collectors. Have you even run into information, such as flyers, announcing model train shows during this period?

Great stuff Brian!! I personally always loved that Father and Son set imagining how great it would be to own that set. It’s funny you should mention about the #57 AEC Vulcan Switcher. I’m on the hunt for that particular motorized unit, but it has to have everything in tact, especially the original struts, not missing, cracked or repaired. The Challenge of the Hunt is what makes it fun and interesting. York is around the corner, so I’ll be keeping my eyes open, and looking to finally introduce myself, and meeting you. I have a few things to discuss with you that might interest you to showcase. Tom
