  This movie plays a lot with words, sayings, typical german behaviour, things from the childhood in Germany in the seventies and eighties. .. it's breathtaking hilarious when you understand the details 😂

  The "high production" is actually just Michael Herbig being a phenomenal director and producer. The total budget of this film from 2004: 9 million Euro. (yes, nine million)

  The translation that popped up is rubbish. Half of it’s wrong. In German, Scotty was called ‘Schrotty’ (Schrott = Junk) because it sounds similar to Scotty. The translation just turned it into ‘Junk’. Lots of the sentences don’t make any sense at all.

  'Insalata Mista Baby' which is Italian for 'Mixed Salad Baby' but sounds like Arnie's 'Hasta la Vista Baby'. Yeah another record breaking German movie from and with Michael 'Bully' Herbig.

  This movie was huge in Germany when it came out. Even McDonalds had special "Traumschiff Surprise" items, like "Käse-Sahne" which was a kind of cheese cake and the favorite food of the guys in the movie 😄

  It's like the german spaceballs. They should dub that in english. Would stil make a decent amount of money

  I guess this movie is easier to understand than 'Der Schuh des Manitu' for international viewers. 'Der Schuh des Manitu' has a lot of references to the books of Karl May (and the old movies based on these books) which are not well known in non German speaking countries.
