  Steven has quietly been doing the MythBusters role in this space for years. Cutting through hype testing ideas in the real world and explaining the why behind them. This video is another great example of that approach and why experience still matters more than trends. Great one man.

  I am a sheep farmer who has worn wool every day for 50 odd years in all temperatures from plus 25 to minus 40 centigrade. It does still insulate when wet, but is better dry. There is no way in hell that it generates significant heat when wet.

  Even dry wool won&apos;t keep you warm in the wind, you need an outer layer

  Yes. As a wool wearer I&apos;ve learned you gotta have a wind layer or shell.. &nbsp;so do IT AGAIN. Lol. And put a wind layer over top..

  I think wind is always the real killer when it comes to the cold. On a crisp winter day I can dress relatively light and still be ok, but one slight breeze and all bets are off.

Shock is a term for when a body is doing unusual, built-in mechanisms to try to compensate for poor oxygen perfusion. Also of note, the diving reflex is considered to be mild in humans when compared to other species.
