I worked for Moody Magazine (Moody Bible Institute) in the 1980s. One day it was my turn to answer the phones during our secretary's lunch break. I answered and a woman told me that Robert Schuller wanted to speak with the Managing Editor. I told her that they were in an editorial meeting. Then an angry Robert Schuller yelled something like ... get him on the phone. I was startled by his angry voice. I went back to their meeting which was in a open cube in a corner. The Managindg Editor smiled and told me to transfer the call back and he put it on speaker. Schuller was very angry because magazine had a negative review of his new book. (I can't remember which one.) He told Managing Editor he could ruin Moody Bible Institute. The Managing Editor was quiet and calm and listened. Towards the end of the call. The Managing Editor pointed out that he doubted that the magazine's subscribers were his target audience. Schuller was calmer and the call ended. So on and off the rest of the day we giggled about how Schuller wasn't very positive... he didn't practice what he preached....and we thought he was all for positive thinking. That memory comes back every time I hear his name.

My wife was waiting for this book release for weeks. We found out it was available a day early at the nearest Barnes and Noble, so she "made" me take her to get it. After 150 miles, Happy Lies plus another book, and lunch at Red Lobster, this cost me about $125. Lol

From my wife's reaction to the first few chapters... totally worth it.

Really enjoyed Melissa's Osteen impression. Lakewood should hire her to fill in when he eventually retires. 😂😂

Ironic they call it New Thought when it’s really the oldest lie.

Thank you both for this. The word of faith movement (which I was a part of for 15 years) has crept across Europe like the black death for decades. Here in the UK we have a network of 'faith churches' that are growing, but a small group of us have taken their doctrine on and are challenging it. Melissa's book will be a great addition to our arsenal and I am encouraged to forge ahead with publishing articles from my blog in book format. God bless you both. I'm just going to make a cup of tea and then pop outside to do some cartwheels.
