The movie puts you in Batemans perspective and never takes you out. By the end he’s confused, he doesn’t know what’s real, so the audience doesn’t know what’s real. Y’all didn’t really miss anything, it’s all just up to the viewers interpretation.

They actually filmed the detectives scenes multiple times and had the actor act like he did know Patrick was guilty, then another version where he had no idea Patrick was guilty, and stitched them together so that the audience can’t tell what the detective knows

I love how every single person I’ve seen react to this movie is mesmerised by the business card scene 😂

According to the director the killings did happen. It’s a movie where everyone is for themselves and self absorbed. That’s why people would mistake each others names, and the woman who cleaned up Patrick’s mess so she could make a profit off selling it. Patrick longs to be caught but his “punishment continues to elude him” as he says at the end of the movie. Everyone is too self absorbed to notice or give af. The lawyer was most likely covering for Bateman, as his father is the owner of the company and likely has massive sway.

The hip to be square scene is so iconic. The comedic side of it is both disturbing and funny.

27:50 .. as a new yorker, if someone is screaming and banging on your apartment door, you’re most def gonna act like no one is home & wait til the screaming subsides. the bystander effect is so bad in nyc & honestly most people don’t wanna get hurt by getting involved
