  Don't dispose of the sodium hydroxide. Keep it as a drain cleaner. Its not toxic, just caustic. It will eat through clogged drain full of hair like nothing, but steel and standard plastic siphons are resistant to it. (Chemistry major here)

  Sam, don't toss the sodium hydroxide. Buy like 200 more of those bottles and you'll have a good backup plan in case the whole "wife and kids" thing doesn't work out.
