  I live on Long Island, NY...and what we really need is a Long Island to Connecticut Sound Crossing...in a certain video, it says it could actually happen, but not for 20 years...we need it started now...

  Brent Spence Bridge,  I75/71,  in Cincinnati. It blew past capacity in the '70s.

  A new 928 foot long steel girder bridge was completed in Alaska last year as part a billion dollar highway  project. The bridge is 285 feet high.

  Highest priority probably the Cincinatti bridge with all of that truck traffic - I have driven it in an 18 wheeler - next is the one in Louisiana - a HUGE need!  THe Norfolk bridge-tunnel project is also VERY important carrying all of that traffic. I have seen the details on a YT B1 video. Then the Mobile bridge - SOOO overdue.  Last in my view is the one going to Cape Cod - I know they are the wealthy people - but MANY fewer trips than the rest of the bridges.

  The technique of building bridges become popular in the world , but the principles basic is there are concrete pillars support under the bridges. This is not omitted and not disregarded

  I was a District Bridge Engineer for 8 counties in north central Pennsylvania when Pennsylvania started his first billion dollar bridge program, in 1982. My selection criteria was basically structural adequacy, they were relatively simple structures built earlier in the century. Using my criteria from back then and the collapse of the I35 bridge, I would select the Thames River I-95 Bridge, rehab and then replace it as soon as possible. That&apos;s also what we did to PA bridges, with pin &nbsp;hangers, after the Mianas River bridge failure in Connecticut.<br><br><br>Pennsylvania has more miles ot state owned highways than New York State and all the New England states combined.

  Oh, ok,.now it makes sense. I live in Washington, D.C. I&apos;ve driven past that site for the new bridges, but I didn&apos;t know what it was they were building. Something told me that it looked like a construction zone for a bridge due to the barges, but since I didn&apos;t hear anything about it, I wasn&apos;t sure. Honestly, they need to replace all of our bridges in and around Washington, D.C. There are multiple deteriorating bridges in this region, and not just within the D.C. borders. I wonder if they&apos;re gonna rebuild that other train bridge that CSX owns on the Anacostia River? They are about to rebuild the stadium, which would mean they would have to redo the CSX bridge for the ferry traffic to the stadium. It&apos;s a very old drawbridge, but it&apos;s pretty low, too. They&apos;ll probably have to dredge that area to make it deeper for the ferry traffic as well. Even though it&apos;s a drawbridge, the river is very shallow in that area. When the tide is low, the boats that park at that pier right next to it on the west side of the river can&apos;t even leave the pier bcuz they&apos;ll get stuck. Or, the boat traffic has to stay on the east side of the river, where it&apos;s a little deeper. However, the ferries are a little large, so they&apos;d either have to open the bridge on every pass, or they&apos;ll have to make that bridge taller. I&apos;m not an expert on train bridges, so I don&apos;t even know if making it taller is something that&apos;s even an option, especially for heavy freight trains.
