  Its a shame to see how Sony ruined the Socom IP by the PS3 era and then closed down the studio that made the games.

  The games feel as if they&apos;ve been done by the military, because the studio, Zipper Interactive, had collaboration from the US Navy SEALs themselves. It&apos;s why the first game included a US Navy SEAL 20-30 minute documentary, and if you notice, some of the cutscenes are actually modeled after the documentary as well.

  First SOCOM felt like that because they actually had a Seal on the team advising them. They went away from that in the later entries.

  A core factor of the early 2000s teenager experience is the military absolutely bombarding you from all angles with attempts to recruit you lol. Any game with some kind of military element, especially Tom Clancy games had ads for recruitment or a ton of lines about how awesome being in the military was. Movies and tv shows had plots about how enlisting was the right thing to do to &quot;avenge 9/11&quot;, country songs were all about fighting in the middle east and had lines like &quot;and uncle sam put your name at the top of his list, and the statue of liberty started shaking her first. and the eagle will fly, and its gonna be hell when you hear mother freedom start ringin her bel!!&quot; <br>there was even this insane commercial for the Marines where a guy fights a dragon that you should look up if you have not seen it, billboards about it being your duty to fight... they sent letters to your house, showed up at your school trying to have you do pull ups, they even came to skate parks giving out energy drinks. It was CRAZY

  one of my first concious memories of the ps2 era was the first mission of SOCOM 3 &nbsp;with the two off road vehicles and also carrying my buddie&apos;s body across the map because i thought i could save him
