Coming from a poor family my mom got me a ps2 2 years before the ps3 release,  I remember my dad use to buy me the socom games because at the old game store (game crazy) they use to sell them for 5 bucks, my dad never liked paying to much for my video games, so I can't help but look back fondly at the socom series.

This is a series that NEEDS to be brought back by a team of loving and faithful devs.

I remember my dad somehow managed to get access to the beta. If my memory serves me right, it was shipped to us on a blank disk (wish I still had it). It was a special time to be a younger kid with early access to this game after playing and loving socom 2.

I remember emulating SOCOM on my phonw with PPSSPP at like 10 fps. Now I can play any AAA game I want. I still go back to SOCOM from time to time, though

I probably replayed through the first game a couple hundred times. The second one a few dozen times and the third maybe twice. Never finished the fourth.

I had the demo for this game, was my first so I’m game and played the game to death, loved how big the map was for missions and how you could steal enemy vehicles/weapons

so, watching this made me realize how different the Pal version here in Europe is compared the US one. the buggy mission that for you was the second one, for us is the first one and we get two buggies instead of one, probably to showcase the fact that you can now split the squad into different vehicles and let them operate them behind you while following you. cool but as you get into the canyons, they also get stuck behind you so after a while you just get tired of waiting and let them board yours leaving one behind lol. i remember how cool it was as a kid but very frustrating hahahaha
