  I’ve always had a fondness for Germany’s national team, despite not being German. I chose to root for them in the 2006 world cup as a kid, and I felt drawn to them when I took German classes in high school. Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer were my first favorite players.

  Regarding the loss to Hungary in the group stage: the German coach deliberately played the B-team in that match, knowing that they would play a deciding match against Turkey afterwards

  Hell, to me that German squad from South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014 gave me so many fond memories. Yeah, obviously Spain dominated trophy wise, but there wasn’t a friend of mine that were football fans that couldn’t name every name on that German squad. Spain had the headlines, but Germany, imo, had the streets for sure haha
