From 1998 til today, there’s been 7 World Cups. France went to the finals 4 times and won twice. The two they lost were on penalty kicks… it’s just been the best football nation these past 25 years

 Great summary.
However, if you are talking about France and the 1982 Semifinal against Germany, you just cannot ignore THE event of the game - the Schumacher hit on Battiston.
You still find people reeling about it today, even after two World Cup wins. It was an absolute national trauma.

The most beautiful thing about Platini's 9 goals ? 3 right footed, 3 left footed, 3 heads. Perfection.

11:01 Platini was recently cleared of all charges.

Also pretty embarrassing to not mention Schumacher’s aggression on Batiston in 82 which went unpunished

It’s pretty baffling how Deschamps has kept the exact same principles as Jacquet : first aim is to create a group that can play together rather than piling up each best player at their position, defensive priority first, attacking on counterattacks and attackers can switch and permute, hence no real 4-4-2.

Another thing to note, Platini. He’s still considered by generations prior to mine as the greatest French footballer ever. It’s rather starting from my generation (born in the 80s) that French people consider Zidane above

Nicolas Anelka could've been a generational player. I wish he could've got it together.

French viewer here - I really appreciated this video! As always, very well documented and complete.
A few things that I might add:
- France's semifinal loss against Germany in 82 is indeed not remembered fondly here, but it's not just the loss. The worst part of that match was Schumacher's dreadful charge into Battiston. I will not detail Battiston's injuries (you might have avoided mentioning that on purpose, which I can understand) but it was pretty, pretty bad. And somehow... no foul, no card for Schumacher.
- (From Houllier's autobiography) When preparing for the Israel game in 1993, Houllié sent someone watch Israel's performance against Romania, in Bucarest. That "someone" didn't deliver a formal, written report, but instead just told Houllier that if France didn't win against Israel, they were bozos (which, to be fair, seems about right). But wait, it gets better. According to Houllier's autobiography, that "someone" happens to be Raymond Domenech, who was France's coach during the dreaded late 2000s period, and behind the disaster that was our performance in the 2010 World cup in South Africa.
- Lilian Thuram's double is even more incredible considering that he was at fault on Suker's goal. He redeemed himself instantly. By the way, you mentioned his longevity in the French team - he remained France's most capped player for a very, very long time until a certain Hugo Lloris took over (by just three).

Cheers!

For the record, Platini has been cleared of all corruption accusation in march of this year but it's too late, damage is done and Infantino thrived from that mess.
