When Clapton first saw Hendrix, Cream was playing at a club in London, The MarQuee Club. Hendrix’s manager, former Animals bassist Chas Chandler, had set it up. Hendrix got onstage and blistered his way through a few songs and Chandler found Clapton, trying to light a cigarette. Clapton looked at Chandler and said, “You didn’t tell me he was THAT GOOD!”

Clapton was scared to death of Gary Moore, he wouldn't even show up to events if he found out Gary was going to play. With good reason, because Gary played circles around Clapton and it's not even close.
