Had Buddy Holly lived , the whole musicall landscape would've been different in the early 60s. He was probably the biggest influence on the Beatles, who named themselves like Holly's own band the Crickets,. They also got the drive to write their own songs because that's what Buddy did. It wasn't the norm at that time. He was also the first rock artist to add orchestration to a song.: True Love Ways and Raining In My Heart. That'll Be the Day was Holly's biggest hit.

Buddy was, in fact, the subject of "The Day the Music Died" along with the Big Bopper and Richie Valens, Hispanic singer of "La Bamba", who all died in a plane crash on the day the music died.

Play Rave On and see a tougher side of the Holly voice. He truly was the driving force of 1957-early 1959 before the airplane crash.

They were all from Lubbock, TX out in West Texas. Lots of Peggy Sue’s out there. 😊

When Buddy Holly died it was like the burning of the Library of Alexandria. It set the musical innovation back by years.

Buddy's talent should never be underestimated, his contribution to the music is massive, thanks Erica especially for doing a triple!

Not a coincidence Buddy's band was the Crickets and the boys from Liverpool were named the Beatles. Huge influence.

“Rave on” and That’ll be the day are great Holly songs. He wrote, arranged and performed the songs-very rare at that time. Made a lot of hit records in a very short career. The early Beatles records were heavily influenced by him as well as their name. A most unique talent.

It's amazing that Buddy had so many fantastic songs, when you consider he was only 23 when he tragically passed away.
