A sugar cube is 4g, keep that in mind.

If you're drinking something with 120g of sugar in it you're consuming what is equivalent to 30 sugar cubes.
And even worse, since it's in liquid form it will go into your system even faster.

I'd wager that the folks drinking these crazy sugared things very simply do not regularly eat fruits and veggies and thus have forgotten what natural sweetness actually tastes like.

"If I had a Nickel for every Mormon-owned company that made overly sweet products, I'd have two Nickels, which isn't a lot but its weird that it happened twice."

A couple of huge additional drivers: sugar is relatively cheap, and (at least 10 years ago when I read their 10-K filings) Starbucks and others are very aware of the risk that climate change will have on the global coffee supply and general price volatility of beans. The more they can shift their business away from relying on coffee beans the more they can mitigate the risk to their business. Which is the most important thing even if they give 10m people diabetes
