For anyone that doesnt know, when she made such a huge change in exercising it made her body hold more water (inflammation) so naturally you gain more water weight when you start exercising alot more. It eventually after a few days falls off tho. Stay the course!

7k steps are still just as beneficial as 10k for those struggling to reach 10k a day.

It’s 80% what you eat and 20% exercise. You can exercise all you want, but if you eat unhealthy, it goes to waste.

I started doing 10k steps almost everyday since may. Im 5'2 I was 175. almost 5 months later, I've lost 25 pounds. IT WORKS YALL. The first and second month I was getting really discouraged because I wasn't losing any pounds. It wasn't until July where I noticed weightloss. I am now 150, my goal is now 135Ibs. I also cried when I noticed the scale number go down because I've stuggled with my weight my whole life. Before this, I had NEVER lost weight before. The most important part is diet. You can't eat junk, work out, and expect to lose weight. If you're not a gym girlie like me, I think walking is an amazing option.

For anyone starting a weight loss/fat loss journey here are some tips that has helped me:

1. Figure out your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). TDEE is the total number of calories your body burns in a day for basic bodily functions (ie: breathing, digestion, etc.) as well as exercise and non-exercise movements. This number will help you figure out your maintenance calories; meaning the amount you need to consume to keep your current body weight.

2. Once you figure out your TDEE, now you can figure out the amount of calories you need to consume to be at a calorie deficit. A calorie deficit will help you lose weight and some fat. To be exact, you need to figure out your macronutrients (protein, carbs and fat). I would suggest getting a food scale and weighing your food (in grams) until you get the hang of how big your portions really should be.

3. Although being at a calorie deficit will help you lose weight, your weight-loss will eventually stagnate if you don't add exercise into your routine. Do keep in mind that if you don't see the scale weight moving that doesn't mean that it isn't working! It could mean that you are simply re-comping; meaning you're losing fat and adding lean muscle at the same time. The scale is not your only measure of success. I would suggest taking progress photos and measuring your waist, hips and thighs and recording these numbers in a notebook or your notes app.

4. Create a workout routine. I highly suggest adding weightlifting as a your main focus as this will most likely get you the results your are looking to have. Weightlifting as a woman will not give you a bulky look so don't be afraid of that happening. The only way you can truly get muscly and bulky from lifting weights is if you're at an extremely high calorie surplus and doing steroids. Definitely add some form of cardio to your routine; it can be walking 10k steps, jump roping, sprinting intervals, dancing, HIIT, etc. But make sure its something you'll enjoy doing or else you wont be consistent with it and consistency is key!

5. Don't drink your calories and stick to water, sparkling flavored water, tea or coffee (w/o sugar --you'd be surprised at the amount of sugar/calories that are in a Starbuck's drink). Stick to whole foods; lean meats (chicken tenders/breast with no skin, turkey, beef, fish), veggies, fruits, fiber, nuts/seeds.

6. Make sure to rest. Recovery is super important, that is where your body is rebuilding itself. Weightlifting causes micro-tears in your muscles and so when you're resting your body (especially when sleeping) is repairing those micro-tears therefore the muscle becomes stronger. So make sure you're resting 7-9 hours per night.

7. Supplements that I use:
- Protein powder ( I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/OPTIMUM-NUTRITION-STANDARD-Naturally-Flavored/dp/B00QQA0H3S?psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_grid_rp_hxwhrp_sspa_dk_bia_0_1_ec_scp_pd_hp_d_atf_rp_4_t --no its not an affiliate link lol)
- Creatine ( i use this one: https://www.amazon.com/NUTRITION-Micronized-Creatine-Monohydrate-Capsules/dp/B000GIQS0W?ref_=pd_bap_d_grid_rp_hxwhrp_sspa_dk_bia_0_2_t )
- Fish oil (i don't like eating fish/seafood so I take this to get my omega-3s )

Currently I'm on my own weight-loss/fat-loss journey and have been at it for 2 months straight consistently. Although I just started 2 months ago I already have past experience doing this I just just wasn't consistent.

My stats (just in case you're curious):
Height: 5'6"
Age: 33
Weight 2-months ago: 153 lbs
Current weight: 137.4 lbs
Goal weight: 125 lbs
Exercise:
- I weightlift 5x/ week (3-days lower body & 2 days upper body)
- I walk 10k steps on my treadmill 3x/week (previously was walking 4x/week 'til I started doing HIIT) *Don't do cardio on your leg days this is will tire you out and won't make as much gains as you may think*
- And lastly I just started incorporating one 30-minute HIIT cardio session to my routine (I follow the LES MILLS x Nina Dobrev video on YT --- guys this HIIT session is no joke)
and lastly I meal prep for the entire week so that I'm not tempted or over-eat. Do allow yourself to have small treats to keep your sanity lol.

Anyways, sorry for the long comment but I hope this helps :).

EDIT: Also if you're going to be weighing yourself, makes sure to do it after you wake up and have peed and pooped lol and that you're doing it in your undies ...clothes adds weight.

4:20 At early stages of doing low intensity cardio like walking, u gain some weight.. i think it has something to do with mini strains in muscle & repair of those strains resulting in edema and water weight… then after that, ur muscle mass starts to go up which adds to the weight as well because the muscle u gained weighs a lot more than the fat u lost even though volume-wise, fat occupy a lot more than the muscle... so even though ur weight increases on weighing scale, ur body is gonna be reduced in measurements (like waist, hip circumference etc)

to be fair, you were wearing sweats and a sweatshirt when you weighed yourself on the second time. wear the same outfit when reweighing and make sure it's in the morning, on an empty stomach, and only after you've used the restroom.
