  So very glad this episode came out during suicide prevention month. As someone who’s thought about doing it a lot I feel for Hal a lot. Seeing John and Hal bond was very nice to see

  One detail that stood out to me is that John wearing his poncho and rowing the boat as Hal talked about his life is essentially Hal being rowed down the River Styx. The off planet scenes are already very mythic in imagery so I thought it was cool to really hammer home that mythological imagery with such a clear parallel.

  Giving Martin a mustache so Sinestro retroactively resembles him more, just so Hal can more clearly see the father figure he never had, it might be too obvious but I still love it<br><br>Edit: Don’t know why I said “he never had”. I clearly should’ve said “he lost” instead.

  The scene of Halogram describing his father’s death definitely hit me pretty hard. My father didn’t intentionally end his own life as far as anyone knows or is sure, though the context of how it happened makes me think he might’ve intended it. That and I’ve had my own struggles, so the whole thing in general hit hard. Seeing someone (the Halogram) come to terms with their own suicide is an odd gut punch I don’t think I’ve ever seen in other media though it makes me sad all the same.<br><br>Going straight from that episode to the cheery opening of this video was quite some tonal whiplash, but it was welcome from me as I wasn’t expected to cry this much today and it’s nice to watch something mostly cheery when I’m sad.

  &quot;He had no reason to know that Mogo was a planet.&quot;<br>True, but he did know that Hal had used the phrase &quot;Mogo doesn&apos;t socialise&quot; as a password, so he should have suspected that the Halogram was testing him by asking whether Mogo had come to the funeral.
