  If you’re single Expat then you can probably live very comfortably for less than 1000 USD. If you are a Expat family in Vietnam I would say 3-4k very comfortable. If you’re living there like a local family probably less than 2KUSD.

  Yours might be a small budget for city and suburban corporate type expats, but many of us here in the US live quite modestly too. At 75, I have very modest health issues and costs, use a bus in my small Maine city and live well in a small house that I bought cheap 10 years ago-I use much less than my monthly $1000 retirement check.
