When I moved to Japan and went shopping for appliances, I was a pretty quickly overwhelmed by the prices, until I saw a place called “Off House”. I pulled in, and half an hour later, left with a washing machine, microwave, fridge, kettle and hair dryer for all together around 30.000 yen. Used goods shops in Japan are really really worth it!

When I visited Japan two years ago, one of the things that struck me was the high amount of women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond hanging out with their friends and just laughing and talking like schoolgirls. It really warmed my heart seeing all these little female friendship clusters and your friendship with Noriko reminds me of that.

We have a similar machine in Finland but it's used to dry your winter boots and shoes, I never thought to use the thing to heat a mattress but sure why not.

I'm so happy for you, making a sweet life in beautiful Japan. Even though I may never see this country in person, I can enjoy it through your wonderful uploads. Congrats on your visa and being able to purchase that awesome gadget. I wouldn't mind using that for my big comforters!<br>I love sweet, fluffy Millie. She's such a beautiful cat. ❤
