Smoking increases the risk of getting it drastically. Crazy how that happens.<br><br>The science denial in the HAES community is mind boggling.

  They don’t understand that NO ONE is saying you need to be healthy to have a good life. People are saying that THEY THEMSELVES want to be healthy, and THEY THEMSELVES feel like losing weight will improve THEIR OWN health.

  As a chronically ill person, I absolutely chase a healthy lifestyle. Maintenance of a healthy weight is one of the ways I limit my flare ups since when I’m heavier, my body hurts more.

  Dear fat activists.<br><br>From one fat person to another: YOU DO NOT GET TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO WITH MY BODY! <br><br>And my friend got surgery. She’s doing fine. You know why? She listens to the doctor. Yes you puke if you overeat or eat the wrong things. It’s because you don’t have discipline and that’s why you get sick. Period.

  My 59 year old father is healthy if you look at his blood levels. He is obese. These are the health complications he deals with:<br>-degenerating lower back spinal disks (like the cartilage between them is degraded and pinches nerves)<br>-no feeling in an entire leg and half of both hands (like the middle to pinky finger of both hands)<br>-can not do things he enjoyed like riding a motorcycle or working on cars<br>-extreme hip pain, making walking extremely difficult<br>-chronic fatigue from sleep apnea (he recently got a cpap machine which helps!)<br>-even trying to exercise, extreme joint pain<br>-exasperated rheumatoid arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis is autoimmune, but obesity causes excess inflammation and makes it much worse than if he was a healthy weight)<br><br>I love him very much (and he’s lost 30lbs by cutting out sugary drinks! Yay!), but these women in their 20s and early 30s do not realize the long term health effects of obesity

  I&apos;m chronically ill and disabled. I absolutely don&apos;t appreciate her dragging that into this. I put in a lot of time and effort into my health and increasing my quality of life. Instead of just ignoring my body, I see that it needs some extra help and I find adaptive ways to give it that help to live the best quality of life as possible by my standards.
