I’d much rather watch a true sailor like you than the typical “sailing” YouTubers who insert completely unnecessary drama. Subscribed.

"I don't have a chart plotter, radar, electric autopilot, water maker, refrigerator, wind generator, electric windlass or lithium battery pack." I love it. Most people wouldn't leave the dock if just one of those wasn't functioning.

As a lifelong sailor that built my own boat and sailed it around the world in the early 80's and have sailed many thousands of nm since I find most of your advice sensible . I do see in your video one glaring exception to how I do it that I find dangerous and simple to fix . Anytime you are sailing solo or are solo on deck at watch you should be attached to a 'jackline' . This is just a securely fastened rope . nylon strap . or sometimes even a cable that runs fore and aft and can be put away when it is not needed . I was washed overboard by a rouge wave when I was soloing once and my harness line was set a few feet too long because I wanted max mobility but it made it very hard to get myself back on board and i was dragged along like a caught fish for about 20 minutes trying , but the thought of watching my boat sail away without me burned that into my soul .Edit ! Ok I hadn't watched the full video yet when I made my comment . I see you did address this issue so kudos .In redress let me tell you a trick I came up with while sailing deep oceans . I always tried to capture rainwater for bathing and such but as you probably know if captured off of sails it can take a while of waiting to let it wash off to even get the salt out of it and some squalls don't even last that long . So here's the trick . buy some appropriately sized umbrellas and hang them upside down out of sprays way like your side stays and hot glue a port with a hose disconnect then run said hose to an inline filter and walla ! Potable water at sea from rain . And the beauty thing is that umbrellas collapse and can be stowed easily and kept clean .

You’re an engineer and a teacher, even if you don’t know it. I just want to say thank you for one of the most complete sailing guides I’ve seen! I especially enjoyed the lack of ego in exchange for reality

This is by far the best, most informative sailing channel I’ve come across. No bikini girls, no nonesense straight to the point valuable tips. I really appreciate you putting in the effort to pass down your personal experience. I don’t know if you’d ever have the time or the curiosity, but I’m sure we’d love to see you circumnavigate the globe. You definitely have the skills 90% of YouTubers lack. Greetings from Portugal

The most informative Youtube video I've found on Ocean Sailing single or doublehanded. I will say that in the Navy, I always kept a small bottle of isopropyl Alcohol and a washcloth for a " crack and crevice wipe down" at sea when we got restricted on water usage. It's a little fiery but keeps the bacteria count down.
