  I don't think it really makes sense to count how far a ball rolls after it lands if you're measuring HR length. There's so many variables. A ball could land in a street or a parking lot and bounce along for half a mile, where if the ball park is surrounded by buildings or trees it might stop as soon as it lands. To me, the only sensible way to measure one is on the fly and only counting where it first makes contact with the ground or whatever.

  Willie Stargell hit 7 Balls over the Right-Field Roof in Pittsburgh's Forbes Field.  Only a handful of players have been able to do that feat.  One of them was The Home Run King "The Babe".

  Dave Kingman was insane. When he hit a ball dead on, you could hear it on the radio broadcast. Would sound like a rifle shot.

  A calculator, a good video , along with a good arieal  photos along with a understanding  of the math is all you need.

  Barry Bonds hit an upper decker homerun at Coors Field which is the greatest homerun I ever saw live.  In 1972 I saw Dave Kingman hit the most incredible homerun I ever saw hit in the Astrodome.  It was a line drive homerun that hit the wall in left between the Upper Yellow seats and the lower mezzanine seats.  It had not started arching down yet!   I believe this was the 2nd game of the season or the 2nd Home game of the season for the Astros in 1972.

  To ever even consider the losers on steroids in this category is absurd.  Any "real" fan from back in the day knows exactly what I'm talking about.  Jose Canseco was one of the pioneers that felt talent alone wasn't enough.

  The homerun by Reggie in1971 at Tiger Stadium contains one of the first and possibly the best bat flips ever

  The distance should be measured to where the ball lands....not where it rolls to.

  I worked in a Pepsi plant in Emeryville California. It sat on the land formerly occupied by Oakland Oaks (Pacific Coast League) Stadium. On July 4, 1929--a date with a particular zip, given what was to follow--Oak Ray Carlisle socked a homer a measured 618'. It stuck between a brick wall and a drainpipe, that's how it was figured. Now, 618 is either the end-of-flight distance or the projected one ..

  In the mid to late 1960s, I read in The Sporting News a story about a minor league home run that hit an airplane that was passing and stuck in the fuselage. &nbsp;The plane supposedly kept flying! &nbsp;I seem to remember that this outrageous event was alleged to have occurred in about 1918.
