  I'm a serious trophy striper fisherman. In 65 years I've caught 5 fish over 50 lbs. Most were in the 1980s and early 1990s before cellphones. So no photos or video of them. So did I really catch them? You bet your ass i did.

  I read a book about Dalkowski, your video is a good synopsis of that book. Lot of reliable veteran baseball men saw him pitch. Would not be surprising if he threw 105 to 110. Today he would be a closer probably.

  I remember reading about him in a Sunday Newspaper article. His wildness kept him out of the Major League.

  Years ago I had the Baseball Digest and they had an article about Steve Dalkowski and one umpire saw Randy Johnson and Steve Dalkowski pitch and said Dalkowski was faster. Earl Weaver said he threw harder then Nolan Ryan.

  I saw Sid Finch pitch a game in a Mets farm game, I swear he was throwing 167mph, only Lenny Dykstra was able to foul off a pitch. I wonder what ever happened to him.

  Sounds familiar with the same story of "smokin' Joe" Wood. Players of hie early 1900s had never met a pitcher as fast as him.

  Mistake: Dalkowski THREW for 40 minutes, after all the pitches the day before.<br>ALSO the translation from 93.5 near release to at the plate is 102.5.<br>It is a simple matter of calculating %: Koufax lost a bit less because he was timed 10&apos; out.<br>Also Dalkowski was throwing from a tarp, not a mound that certainly adds velocity, maybe 3-5 MPH-&amp; I believe not wearing spikes?<br>While those witnessing it said his fastest was much faster.

  Too bad Steve never made it to the major leagues. He ended up living in a rest home in New Britain, Ct.
