4:52. This one lit up a lightbulb! When I was with my ex, he withheld emotions and intimacy more and more as the relationship progressed. I couldn’t figure out for the life of me “what I was doing wrong.” The mind games of being with someone who knows you’re hurting and doesn’t care enough to do the work (or can’t do the work and can’t express that) can relay take a toll on the heart. Distancing tactics in a relationship are no joke.

It’s good to be self conscious about our attachment styles. I think we’d also really appreciate a video with solutions!

I recently went through a difficult breakup. My five year relationship ended a month ago, and it's been incredibly hard. I still have so much love for my ex girlfriend, and I can't seem to get her out of my mind. Despite my best efforts to win her back, nothing has worked, and the thought of being with anyone else feels impossible right now. I know it might sound odd to share this here, but I miss her deeply and can't stop thinking about her.

I tend to avoid online therapy (mainly because without 1:1 context/feedback things like attachment theory, 'toxicity' and boundary setting is used to justify unethical and selfish behaviour) but the last few videos have had points that have been rather illuminating and thought provoking. Cheers mate.

It’s interesting because I heard from another therapist that typically those that struggle with anxious attachment are avoidant towards themselves and it subconsciously draws them to avoidant partners. Great video!

My partner and I are both avoidant. At the beginning, I was anxious attached person, it bought issues amongst us, until we talked, we both compromised. We have made it work, we've been together for 5 years.

The sexual incompatibility you mentioned is a facet but I don't think it should be the be-all and end-all of a relationship. Yes, sex is important but it certainly shouldn't be the reason you end a relationship, in my humble opinion.

I have to rewatch this again. This may actually answer my questions why we are having a hard time connecting with my boyfriend. Thank you for your work! You can’t even imagine how important it is

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! For 30 years I have had an issue with a dear friend of mine. It bothers me to this day that we can't connect, even though we were once very good friends. I now understand he is emotionally unavailable, his father is an alcoholic. This is the missing piece to the puzzle! Thank you!!
