  UK guy here.   I went to Missouri / st Louis a few years ago.   I was warned not to go out for a walk around town, down to the river??  Wtf.  I did.  It was fine.  Only problem is I saw nobody else.    Nobody walks anywhere.   Everything was by car, too far away, and the vibe was off.   Almost what I imagine the air feels like in skinwalker ranch.  I didn't like the vibe at all.  Happy to be in the UK. ( And love Europe).  P.s. Love Dusseldorf as well.

  European, I lived in various countries in Europe, never heard of unemployment when you are leaving your job willingly, there are situations where your employer wants to fire people and you make a deal with them that benefits both parties in which case you can get unemployment and a lump amount from your employer as well, but quitting your job on your own and getting unemployment, that I've never heard...

  I can only speak for Germany, but anyone who quits their job here doesn't receive any government financial assistance for the first three months.

  In Germany....when you get fired or quit, after 12 months of an official contract for employment,(I dont know if it includes the trial period) you have to register to the Agentur für Arbeit,(Federal Employment Agency)  then you will have right to a year of 60% your previous salary, whilst actively "looking for a job", periodically you will receive "invitations" (forced appointments) with a representative, to explain your situation, its mandatory to attend. the cool thing is that if you have a business plan and you can presented in full you will get support from the government for one year to jumpstart said project

Just like that.(In Germany).our apartment in the center of Dresden is paid,all school book and equipment they need,excursions are paid,also a warm meal. And so much more.....

  Yes, last year I willingly quit my well-paid job (which was really stressful) to travel to China for a month; afterwards, I came back to find another job. As I pay high taxes and am healthy, I wanted to enjoy the benefits of our system. I have paid more into the system than I have received, so I view it as a fair trade. I know that taxes go toward a pension which I may receive in the future, but as an old grandma, I am not sure that I will be able to handle traveling as I do now.
