I feel like this episode should have been about Liko's anxiety. I feel like it could have shown her having a voice telling her that she would humiliate herself in front of everyone and make her a laughing stock (maybe the voice could have a physical version like a scribbled silhouette of Liko). Maybe one of the judges could have been insanely fierce and directly insulting to some of the contestants and being especially harsh to Liko after her performance goes completely wrong. Maybe Liko could've ran out holding back tears and hiding in a nearby forest thinking that everybody saw her as a joke. Maybe her friends could have found her and supported her and made her feel better and showed her that she doesn't need to only give help and not get any in return as the embodiment of her self-hating voice slowly withers away. Maybe the other judges could have immediately fought back against the harsh judge as said harsh judge could have gone too far with insults and had no remorse.

I feel like her just being disqualified for her meowscarada's actions was a bit dumb and they should probably have had a moment where she panicked due to her not knowing ditto would appear.

I just think that this episode was a missed opportunity for the writers to make something with a hard-hitting impact and strong message.

What irritates me the most is that literally this would be perfect to had hatterene and amarouge and meowscarada to LITERALLY perform together she has 3 POKEMON only so it’s perfect

Like we honestly gotta stop the milking of the paldea starters cause it getting dumb

They call it a Contest, but nothing about this was even remotely a Contest. This felt more like a Pokémon Showcase from the Kalos region.

The problem with this "contest" episode is that we have no reason to care whether Liko wins or loses because its a one time thing. For May and Dawn, they were actual Pokemon Coordinators and winning contests mattered to them so they worked hard to achieve their dream which in return made the audience root for them or feel their pain if they lost. But here, it means nothing, Liko lost by disqualification but is hardly fazed by it hence why it was pointless to give her a pity victory. It would be the equivalent of Roy challenging one Paldean Gym for the fun of it and not because he actually wants to enter the Pokemon League.

I think the episode would have been much better if:
1. It was her own pokemon not just Meowscarada.
2. The episode started with Liko thinking about her dream to connect with Pokemon and wondering if there were other ways than battling. Hence the pokemon contest being introduced.
3. It was more like a Kalos Pokemon Showcase, since Horizons has more ties with Kalos now. And Navi could tell them her first experience and her tips would make more sense

I wish they actually made like a contest instead of a one stage showcase performance.

You know, with the lady with visor as the host, nurse joy and the two judges, the performances followed by a contest battle. There are 500 pokemon added since sinnoh, they have many opportunities to think of new visuals
