The ds3 merchant always struck me as possibly being or related to the soup spoon lady who took care of the ds2 keepers. And now she's the only one left.

I love how DS3 shows that the Bearer of the Curse kept his promise to Lucatiel

Kingdom weaker than surrounding armies, hires a band of mercenaries that has a bird of prey as their icon. God damnit it isn't just Miyazaki

The idea that Dark Souls 2 isn't canon only stems from the dislike people have for the game. Playing through all games and examining the lore will clearly demonstrate it is part of the bigger whole.

lorewise, it is undeniable that it is part of the entire stories, I find it disheartening people still thinking it isn't

Dark Souls 2 is getting some much needed love recently and that makes me happy. I wish that they referenced Straid and Ornifex in 3, it wouldve been cool to even get some hints about them. Hell even Navlan or whoever is locked up in aldia keep lol

"Here, a sword to kill Giants with, to be used on me."
"Yeah sure okay"
swings the sword at an army horizontally and wins

One of the most important characters in the background of all of Dark Souls is Caitha, who is basically a new apostle in Dark Souls 2 introducing stuff like “Caressing Tears” which were considered “untrue” miracles, then canonized by Dark Souls 3, when, by the Lloyd Sword and Shield rings, we learn that Caitha ousted Allfather Lloyd in the Way of White religion, becoming its new figurehead. This new Way of White eventually reached Lothric, where Gwynevere, as the Queen of Lothric, propagated her image with dozens of crying statues all over the city.
If you trace the full story, from how it appears, Allfather Lloyd is a complete sham who showed up once Gwyn burned himself and all the gods left Anor Londo. He uses force and doctrine to control the religion and extend his rule. He takes the religion to Thorolund as its base homeland, away from Lordran, the “land of the lords.” He rounds up undead brutally, imprisons them away forever, and then puts demons in the Chosen Undead’s path instead of making Way of White clerics do their job. By all accounts, Petrus in Dark Souls 1 should attack the Chosen Undead on sight but instead sells them miracles.
Oswald comes from Carim and worships Velka. By Dark Souls 3, Velka is relegated to a single statue locked up in a sewer. Lautrec comes from Carim and worships Fina, a totally different goddess seemingly unrelated to Gwyn. And then in DS2, we learn of Caitha, from Carim, who grants Tearstones. Doesnt that kind of fit similar themes as Velka? Judging the undead, not as harshly, on their sins, but instead giving them power or comfort in their last moments, sort of as a final judgment.
Man I love Dark Souls

Another downside to the blue moon great-sword is the lack of scaling

everyone kept telling me DS2 was disconnected from DS1 and 3 and the more I played the DS2 and uncovering all of the story the more I kept commenting "but I thought this wasn't connected to the other games" in a sarcastic manner
