European Work Culture Makes Americans Look Twice

I feel like a lot of Americans commenting on these videos have never worked for a multinational corporation. In Europe. Nothing comes easy, anywhere in the world. These "rights" aren't just granted, they have been fought for through generations. And even in the "holy grail" of Europe it could disappear in a second.

It’s funny how Americans frame the work life balance in Europe as “it’s because the cost of living is low” rather than “it’s because the standard of living is higher”

Every time I hear an American talk about work I'm surprised the süIcide rates are not higher over there.

Paying all those taxes and you don't even get free healthcare, what's the point of taxes then?

To take vacation doesn't cost money. And for a few euros you can drive everywhere by train.
But you can also stay at home or in your garden

well.... you said you couldn't afford to take 25 days off like the Lady working in the Netherlands. What you seem to not get is: Vacations are paid time. So during those 25 days you get paid just like you have been there. And the allowance money she mentioned is ABOVE that!

In Portugal and other European countries, it's illegal to be expected to answer work calls after working hours, which is perfect. You can switch off and focus on your personal life. Priceless. ❤

My husband spent a lot of time working in the US with Americans. They drove the Brits mad because the Americans stretched out the work to fill those extra hours they were expected to work. The Brits wanted to get on with the job to get back home!
