  My take on an interesting theory i saw and personally really love is that the path of pain exists to seal away the painful memory of the pale king and the hollow knight gazing upon each other. The pale king dared to look at his own child, and the child looked back. The child loved its father, and the pale king couldn&apos;t help but love it back. <br><br>The king knew the vessel, the only hope against the Light was flawed, but he had exhausted his options and sealed it away anyways. He couldn&apos;t get rid of such a precious memory, but it was too painful to bear. So he made it damn near impossible to reach. <br><br>One of his greatest shames, sealed away behind that wretched path. The king was filled with bitterness, self hatred, regret, and guilt, both for his heinous crimes against his children, and the for the love he had for his child that doomed his everyone. <br><br>He sealed himself away. His plan had failed, his kingdom in ruin, and the pale king was left rotting away on his throne from the guilt of his failure, never wanting to be found. <br><br>The great Wyrm, dead in a beautiful prison of his own making, surrounded by loyal subjects awaiting his return, stowed away in a world that hardly exists, while the Blinding Light in all her majestic Radiance claims her due.

  Just some info. Team Cherry posted that Hornet had 3 mothers one birthed her, one trained her and one raised her we learn from the red memory that the one who birthed her was Herah the beast, the one who trained her was Hive Qween Vespa and the one who raised her was the White lady.<br>Hope this helped

  Just for info, the community have more or less agree that dream no more is the &quot;more&quot; cannon ending because it&apos;s the one that make the most sens and is the best conclution for the story

  So what I&apos;m getting from this is every single problem happened becasue the Pale King was TOO good. He was too good of a king so the radiance became forgotton and infectious, then he was too good of a dad so the Hollow Knight became attatched and impure. If he had been a tiny bit worse at literally any good thing he tried to do all of the bad things that happened would&apos;ve been averted
