One of the details I've always loved about this series is that Zuko is shown to fight three Agni Kai duels throughout the show: the first when Ozai gave him his scar, the second against Zhou, and the final one against Azula. In all three duels, his opponent acted dishonorably - Ozai struck when Zuko had already submitted, Zhou went for a cheap shot after being defeated, and Azula intentionally targeted a non-combatant just to screw with Zuko. In all three cases, Zuko was the one who fought honorably. He made many mistakes over the course of the show, but he was always capable of honor. It just took him a while to fully embrace it.

My fav subtle character change is when Zuko arrives to Iroh, throughout the series he would often command his crew (when he had a crew) to wake his uncle, but not this time, he allows him to sleep and waits. The son without a father has the father who lost his son.

The awe inspiring slow music and stunning visuals of Zuko and Azula's final showdown followed immediately by the anxiety of The Fatherlord chasing Aang is peak

Something that gets overlooked sometimes, or at least gets overshadowed by the rest of the finale, is Azula's breakdown. That part of the show breaks my heart more than any other scene. That poor girl was only about 14 years old, was expected to act like she was in her 30's, was trained (if you can even call it that, it was more like she was abused) by her father her whole life to be ruthless and she aspired to rule everything and everyone around her. But in the end, after she lost against Zuko and Katara you can see it all in her eyes: she never wanted any of that. She was convinced it was what she wanted, but after she was chained to the ground, defeated, alone and broken, her charade shattered. All she really wanted was love. Her friends were gone, her brother had become an enemy, her father had basically abandoned her and in that moment, as her desperate screams and anguished cries filled that empty arena, she revealed who she truly was: a scared young woman who just wanted her mother.

Completing the circle - from "The Boy in the Iceberg" to "Avatar Aang".

An absolutely spectacular finale to a truly spectacular show. The visuals are absolutely stunning, the score is just beautiful (that mournful piece that plays during Zuko and Azula's agni kai just breaks the heart), and every character gets exactly the ending they deserve. It's packed full of emotional moments, both those we've been waiting so long to see (Zuko and Iroh's reunion, Aang and Katara's kiss) as well as some we didn't expect (who knew we could feel somewhat sorry for Azula at the end?), plus there's some exhilarating action and even a few funny gags to balance out the intensity and drama. I don't say this lightly, but I genuinely think this finale is the perfect ending for the series.

I believe that Zuko meeting Iroh again is the most emotional part of the entire series and it always gets me, every single time.

Zuko's goal in ep 1 has, in a way, been realised by the finale. He brought the Avatar to the Fire Nation and restored his honour.

Not only one of the best animated shows, but one of the best shows, period.

11:40 Jennifer Hale, the voice actress for June, was also the voice for Avatar Kyoshi and has a long list of other voice acting credits you might know her from.

Out of all the animal mixes in the show, the Lion Turtle is actually from Chinese Mythology

That sweeping shot of Aang looking on as Ozai is coming is too f**king epic!

the Battle between Aang and Ozai is still EPIC to watch. Mark Hamill really brought Ozai to life with his voice, especially when he had Aang at his mercy, only to be beaten by Aang after the Avatar State was finally unlocked due to the wound Azula gave him back in Ba Sing Se!
