  What's your opinion on Stackable Batteries? Do you guys think it's the way to go?

  When I bought a stackable BYD battery system, I thought adding a final one might be in the future. <br>However, I have built a sunshade over it, and the giprock sheet above would also need to be extended. Too much hassle now

  One way simple way of looking at the optimum install size is get approximately 3x the inverter rating in KWH. So with s 10KW inverter and Sigenergy go for 3x 9KWh modules. Charge from ideally solar or at say 15p/KWh between 2-5 am on Octopus flux and sell for about 30p between 4-7pm. &nbsp;<br><br>During the summer with a large array you can make 27x £0.3 or £8 per day. While during the winter about £4 per day. <br><br>Return on investment: a simple calculation: £2700 per Sig 9kWh module making only £0.15 per KWh gives about 5.5 years to break even. <br><br>Key here is there is no reason to go above 3x inverter size. Get maximum panels on day one.

  For Sigenergy, how about the round trip efficiency loss with its low voltage modules. I’ve seen as low as 60% vs other competitors over 80%<br>Kinda important but no one measures let alone specify in their quotes!

  I have 11 kw solar with 36 kw battery sigenergy my battery was fully charged at the time but next 3 day was cloudy and just depend on my battery enough to supply energy to my home and no supply from the grid was used.

  Yes ages of additional batteries usually is important<br>For lead acid, I remember you need to change all at once as the worst capacity one will dominate<br>I would assume similar in LFP, and the weakest battery will age the hardest, making it worse over time

  Will the battery manufacturer still make a compatible battery in 5 years time or in 10 years when the batteries fail, if you do replace them &nbsp;then inverter fails in 15 years will that be replaceable if not your need a new stack and only gets 5 years life. Personally I think the batteries are still expensive per KWH having one that can save what you might have export to self consume now makes sense. I think we will see a drop in battery prices with time when they half in cost or stay they same electric prices double they will make more sense. A 5kh for 700 quid in a plugin unit will look very tempting.

  Why do they always say about if you get an EV you may want a bigger battery? Nobody charges their EV from the battery, you do that overnight on the cheap tariffs, you would need a massive 60kwh battery or so if wanted to charge an EV from a battery which would basically never pay for itself.

  the &apos;stackable&apos; thing is a complete red herring; the only things that matter are inter-type/condition compatibility. Connectivity is &nbsp;a second-order issue. <br>V2G is by far the most important aspect of domestic battery growth, maybe 100 times more important.

  Every installer video says the same... Put as much solar as you can it a great investment but &nbsp;when it comes to batteries they say don&apos;t get too much because you won&apos;t use it or the battery won&apos;t cycle fully and that&apos;s not good. <br>I oversized my batteries and I fully cycle them every day. At 12am I empty what&apos;s left in the batteries and get paid for the export and at 2AM I charge them fully again. <br>In the morning my solar goes directly to the grid as my batteries are full. I averaged 10kwh per day in export from my batteries alone. 5kw PV and 18kwh in batteries. &nbsp;A modest system massive profits as all of my usage is in the cheap window because the batteries are more than enough to handle all my usage. EV is charging only during the cheap window. Heat pump as well and I&apos;ve €1400 in credit good into the winter

  Stacking your batteries outside in plain view of the neighborhood is only asking for them to be stolen. It is much easier to split them and carry them away in the back of a van than with a single 16kw unit in one box. I predict this will be big business in the future and the dodgy modules will end up on Ebay.<br>Make sure they are well attached to a wall and have an alarm system installed to go off &nbsp;if they are disconnected from the house.<br>It is too much money invested to in effect have them just sitting in your back garden.
