Heard your chimes at about 7:40. Makes me think of Pink Floyd "Time" on "Dark Side of the Moon".
A good example of electrostatic deflection in "present day" electronics would be most CRT oscilloscopes.
That's a "Thora-Test" tropicalized capacitor. I do remember those! They're selling these for big bucks on eBay.
The Westinghouse tube was a good choice because "You Can Be Sure....If It's Westinghouse".
Most likely the reason for the two heater strings would be to put the tubes handling higher levels (deflection, etc.) on one string and the tubes handling the lower level signals (RF, IF etc.) on the other, plus making the heater voltages add up to the correct value.

I remember most of what you are reading but I realized I am becoming senile when I incorrectly told you the history of 24a's and 01a's. I now am much more careful about trying to be helpful. Getting older sometimes sucks.

33:25 - That is a thura Test brand capacitor
Yes, i think you will get it working! - Good enough to play Pong or some other black and white thing.
OOOH OOH, no wait...Play the Back to the Future scene where Emmet is playing back the video of the car at the mall on HIS 1950's TV!
