  Porter Wagoner the person who she wrote the song for is standing off stage as it was his show she was on. She was leaving to do her own thing. Later in lifer Porter had financial difficulties and sold his music catalog. Dolly bought it back and gave it to him as a gift. Sweet lady. Great video as always.

  I am 76 & we lost 5 babies before we brought our 2 daughters home.  The loss does change over the years but it never disappears.  Cling to each other & one of the reasons that I joined your channel is that you both come across as real & legitimate. Thank God that you're human & real.

  Dolly is not a diva. Her version is so humble and vulnerable - she’s just sitting in a chair expressing her inner thoughts. That’s why it’s so relatable. And it’s the same watching you in this reaction, and it’s why we love seeing this side of Black Pegasus. I understand the stoicism and there is a time and place for that persona, but it’s also important to show that there is a line that can break even you; it makes the personality on the screen human. And there is absolutely nothing shameful about where that line exists for you, seeing what you have been through. And having one another to lean on when your emotions come close to that line is precious; continue to embrace one another to help you through adversity.

  There is absolutely nothing wrong with showing your emotions here on your channel.  It shows your humanity and it also shows that your show is not scripted.  Many people have gone through what you have gone through and they feel your pain, your loss, and the difficulty of saying goodbye.

  A lot of people assume Whitney Houston's version of this song is the original. But Dolly wrote this back in 1973. She wrote it as a farewell to her business partner & mentor Porter Wagoner, expressing her decision to pursue a solo career. Love Dolly's sweet version. Whitney made it into a powerhouse song.
