  I can&apos;t express how surreal getting issued one in Ft. Benning for the first time is. It&apos;s a fever dream that turns into nostalgia like nothing else. They were freshly retrofitted from M4 Carbines, and we mounted the CCO and PEQ15 later. Seeing them all in racks, hundreds of them, knowing one is going to be yours, I&apos;ll never forget.

  Would’ve loved an M4 in my time in the British , the sa80 sucked so much out in the deserts of Afghanistan and having all the extra weight as well

  If it works badly, slightly fix it while running 20 small arms competitions and announce you don&apos;t need anything new because you fixed it slightly.

  I really like the M4 but there was just a vibe behind the M16A4 with the quad rails that can&apos;t be matched.

  The USMC still has the M16A4 to this day, they aren’t seen in infantry battalions now that the M27 and M4 are so prominent in the infantry, but everyone from combat engineers to any support personnel will often get M16A4,s. with the M16A4 being the standard rifle for their basic training. The US navy still has the M16A3 but I think they are being phased out.

  I&apos;ll always remembered the first M4 I had issued in Army basic training. It looked and felt like a tiny toy. I had to remind myself what it was and how much experience and development has led to that light little toy looking thing in my hands.
