  Pretty sure Sharikov is a reference to Mikhail Bulgakov&apos;s &quot;Heart of a Dog&quot;, a famous Russian novel, in which a professor transplants human organs into a stray dog, which slowly turned him into a human. The dog was initially called Sharik (Literally means &quot;Ball&quot; or &quot;Balloon&quot;), a very common pet name for a dog, but after becoming a human he took the name Poligraf Sharikov
