  I love Dr. Cline’s work, from his wonderful class on the Great Courses streaming service, to his great books, to his Podcasts and videos.  He’s so good-natured and generous with his time, just wanting to share his appreciation and vast knowledge of the ancient world.  I could listen to him talk all day, and sometimes do.

  The tin mines of Cornwall in the UK were both quite early and great in importance. They were known early to the Greeks and perhaps other early societies. Just how early the Cornwall UK tin was mined needs to be commented on. There was early metal mining in Eastern Europe, Iron was worked early in Eastern Europe and also in India and the Middle East.

  It would be better to give credit to Dr. Cline for his own analogies and comparisons that you have tried to pass as your own. &nbsp;I also heard his other lectures beforehand and noticed that you did that twice during the interview.

  Future archaeologists will be trying to decipher our “hieroglyphs” (sacred writing) from the “ritual objects” that we call recycling codes impressed on the bottom of food and beverage containers. &nbsp;Only rock, glass, ceramics, plastics and gold will survive long in the archaeological record, and perhaps some other metals. &nbsp;I include plastics because they have only been around a century and we don’t know how long they will survive if buried. &nbsp;There are estimates based on simulations, but the one factor we can’t accurately simulate is time we haven’t had yet. &nbsp;As a scientist, I expect it will be on the order of 5 to 10K years in the absence of sunlight or extreme pH conditions.

  Fascinating discussion but I&apos;m not sure what lesson the Bronze Age Collapse has for us. They collapsed because of a perfect storm of external shocks. Our collapse is a choice. E.g., how many pharoahs wanted to &quot;fundamentally transform&quot; Egypt? How many Assyrian kings opened their city gates and invited their enemies?
