  I feel like for individuals who grew up in poverty and now have more disposable income (crazy phrase, SAVE PEOPLE SAVE!!), buying little treats for yourself on your birthday is a sweet idea.<br>Monetizing it, getting affiliate links and profiting off of it? Nah, less good!

  People bash Amazon, Whole Foods and Jeff Bezos but still link everything from those store fronts. &nbsp;Let&apos;s slow down - buy second hand or go to brick and mortar stores to support them and hopefully get better quality items. &nbsp;We can&apos;t get upset with Bezo if we still line his pockets by buying from his stores.

  I actually want people to stop buying me gifts for my birthday and especially Christmas! A lot of the time I feel like I end up with things that I don’t need and will declutter if I can’t find a use for them, which makes me feel wasteful. I’m much happier with just a cake on my birthday or one or two gifts I’ve intentionally asked for or things like chocolate that I’ll eat. Every time I say I don’t want gifts people don’t take it seriously and it frustrates me.

  i always ask for experiences for my birthday. last year my parents paid for me and my best friend to fly to LA for less than 24 hours and see one of our favorite musicals live. my mom felt really bad because there was a pile of gifts on the table for my twin and nothing for me, but it was the best birthday gift i’ve ever gotten. coolest experience ever, something i never could’ve justified paying for on my own, lifelong memories with my favorite person—that’s what birthdays should be for

  My birthday is January 3, so my entire life it got swallowed up in the holidays. I always got the &quot;this gift is for Christmas AND your birthday&quot; nonsense. When she was alive I <br>always sent my Mother flowers on MY birthday because she did all the work!! It&apos;s no big thing to me.
