To quote Iroh (or Pathik, I can't remember):
'The seperation of the elements is an illusion'

An avatar in the modernish day should be taking science classes

Firebenders being watered-down energy/temperature benders makes so much sense now wth

its funny how you call water the simplest when its actually one of the weirdest and most complex substances that we know of

Having a toph inventing metal bending type sequence of a fire bender inventing heat syphoning would be so cool

I feel like a fully realized creative avatar would be fun to see. Imagine basically water bending liquid nitrogen and oxygen, and blowing them up with lightning or plasma?

So coooool

3:30 pretty sure that in the fog island, water benders created the mist, so it mightve been an example of "steam" bending

The show runners have said the fire lion turtle is the one that teaches ang energy bending.

I had an idea. What if non of the elements actually bend their element, but instead a thermodynamic variable, but they believe they are bending their respective element and are such limiting themselves.

Fire benders are temperature benders, air benders are pressure benders, earth benders are volume benders and water benders are entropy benders.
These are closely related and not separatable from eachother, which is in line with the separation of the elements being an illusion, and they can be used to achieve their respective bending styles:
Air benders move the air by controlling pressure.
Fire benders create fire and redirect lightning by manipulating temperature, the kinetic energy of particles.
Water benders freeze and liquify water by manipulating entropy to make it change state.
Earth benders move the earth around and reshape it by changing the form and position of the volume.
