Naoko san, I'm happy that you're finally back! My motivation for learning Japanese is simply because I love it. I've been self taught for about 5+ years and the biggest tip are.... 1.Don't judge yourself - just enjoy the journey, keep learning the language because you love it (don't study something you don't enjoy - no matter what everyone says). 2. Study something that you LOVE. If it feels like work, your doing something wrong. 3. Don't skip the basics. Learn grammar, otherwise your going to struggle.

If your doing it correctly, the feeling of improvement should feel natural (in other words, you shouldn't feel it at all). But the moments where people compliment you...CHERISH that feeling and use it to motivate yourself even further.

I also recently rediscovered my love for learning Japanese. I'd like to say that I put it on a pause but never gave up. Now I'm doing things a bit differently, like structured learning. Learning on my own was fine for a while but now that i'm more serious I'm learning grammer, kanji and practicing what I learn the entire week with a tutor so that I practice speaking. Speaking it has helped tremendously! I hope that you continue to use your Motivation and love for communication to reach your goal to become fluent in English!

I actually cried listening to your story of speaking English. It really helped me remember why I’m learning Japanese. I just love seeing the joy in people when I can talk to them in Japanese and communicate. I understand that you had that same experience in English.

Naoko san, you're glowing!! Haha, I was smiling when you were talking about your childhood self speaking English for the first time. You've made a ton of progress and that realization & feeling you had when you opened up the word dictionary you used to use must've felt amazing! I'm super happy for you!! Thanks for sharing your story today! I'm sure if you continue your studies, you will get closer to native speaking! You can do it!! :)

Naoko-san!! Thanks for sharing this video. I’m from Taiwan and have been learning Japanese for just one month. When I searched for “comprehensible Japanese,” I found your channel, and it really inspired me! My first second language is English, and I believe motivation is the most important thing when learning any language. I’m learning Japanese not only because I love Japanese culture, but also because I want to travel to Japan and talk with people there. Looking forward to your next video!

Hi Naoko, I'm glad to see you're learning English again. It can be very hard to learn a foreign language. I've been studying Japanese for longer than a year now, and I still struggle with the language. What motivates me is seeing my Japanese improve, it encourages me to speak more. Learning a foreign language is a long road, but by the time you reach fluency, you'll be able to have deeper conversations with locals. I find that fascinating, that is not something you can do with AI. :)
