And the college foot ball team coaches are NOT teachers, they are not part of the unions and their sole job is the football coach (which also includes recruitment etc.)

America is the "only" country that publishes the annual salaries of ALL of its professional athletes. From top to bottom, the salaries are astronomical!

Speaking of huge crowds, America also has the single largest attended event on the planet in the Indianapolis 500 which routinely brings in well above 300,000 people for the race. Some great videos on that race and track

And also, the revenue the football team generates will help fund literally almost all other sports at the university for both men and women

Salaries in the UK are generally pathetic across the board. Average salary for a teacher in the US is $75k. My daughter, who has 17 yrs teaching, in Middle School, makes $104k

Only the quarterback on offense and one player (typically a linebacker) on defense have radio comms with the coaches. They use this to call in plays, they get around 20-30 seconds and then their mics are cut off when there is 15 seconds left on the play clock. So when you see the teams huddling to call plays, that is typically after the play has been called and the player is informing the other 10 guys on the team what the play call and formations are.
