  As a former autozone store manager it did not surprise me to see that autozone was not only open, but had customer vehicles in the parking lot with a tornado barreling directly at it. Customers always picked the worst weather days to come in talking about &quot;my check engine light has been on for a while, can you come out and check it for me during this particular tornado emergency??&quot;

  I was in this! My family was in our station wagon headed down Renwick towards Route 59. Not only were there no sirens but the tornado was rain wrapped making it almost invisible. My dad noticed bits insulation blowing around, spun the car around and sped back the way we came. This tornado just missed the Lily Cache campground (now the Deer Creek Recreation Club) which was full of families in RVs all summer, it could&apos;ve been so much worse.

  I lived 15 minutes from here and my dad was a tow truck driver at the time. He remembers pulling cars out of trees.

  This tornado almost killed my uncle&apos;s best friend. He was a truck driver, hauling steel tubing, truck got ripped apart, he was almost completely unidentifiable, and was a John Doe as far as the hospital was concerned until my uncle went looking.

  This is the best detailed video about the Plainfield tornado I’ve ever seen. You made sure to mention the other &nbsp;villages, towns, and communities hit by this monstrosity. &nbsp;I was an hour away but I will never forget that day.

  Growing up in Plainfield, many of my friends parents were traumatized from this tornado--if the sky was even a hint of green, they would immediately call back all their kids to make sure they were home safe

  My brother&apos;s wife had lost her home and her dog was killed in that tornado when she was a kid. Her family were all unharmed, but they still have a lot of trauma around it.
