  2- people comming from different backgrounds, different up- bringing, you may want the person you be like you in every way ,but that won't happen. Most "important" make sure the person is  Kind and willing to accept his ,or her faults and   willing to correct it.

  The problem is when we are raised by toxic parents, our relationship template is flawed and we will not see negative behaviors as red flags

  A huge red flag is when there is some incorrect behavior, according to deen, and they justify it or excuse it using their opinions and feelings regardless of what Islam guides us towards.

  Some people, the covert narcissits in particular, will wear a mask of concern and love for you and they will take off that mask only after you are legally their spouse. We, both sisters and brothers, need to be psycologically educated and to learn certain skills and also develop a better understanding of our own flaws  and heal our own traumas before we can make sound judgments. This also goes to the Wali and family who are helping in the choice making.

  What I've noticed  is that you could be a kind and truthful person but instead of meeting someone who is the same as you ,the narcissist  types will get attracted to you ,so then what do you do???

  Jazakallah khair for the advice. Also, some people just dont have good communication skills but that doesnt mean they are bad rather they just lack a skill. Sometimes keeping it simple might be the key also EVERYONE of us will carry few of these red flags at one point or another. Sometimes people are still growing where you have matured so having compassion might really be the key

  Nice points to consider in evaluating whether a person will make a good partner. This also is great for self reflection to determine what type of spouse/person you want to be in a relationship. In any relationship!

  Pardon me. May we all succeed in this life and the hereafter. I don't know how it is in the West. It's too vague. Like the example of engagement period. The potential groom didn't gift her small things. But engagement doesn't make him any different. He is still a non-mahram and should avoid unnecessary interactions.

  And how much time do we have to spend with then to notice all these "patterns"(since patterns takes a lot of repetitions to notice) pre marriage.
