Having been in the insurance industry in the past, I trust insurance companies as far as I can throw them.

America has 6% of the world's population, but it has nearly 60% of the world's lawyers. The cost of lawsuits is a huge factor in the cost of insurance, healthcare, and pretty much every product and service sold in America, adding at least a double-digit percentage to the cost of goods and services. I live in Japan, which has very few lawyers, and which is not a litigious society. The cost of things like insurance and healthcare are cheap here. If you suffer damages in Japan, or are injured, or disabled, you can be awarded only actual damages. In the case of damages, injury, or death due to negligence, these are not dealt with in the civil court system, but the criminal court system. If a doctor in Japan commits malpractice resulting in death, he can't simply have his insurance check write out a check for whatever a court orders. The plaintiff will get only what the court determines as the actual damages, anything punitive comes in the form of a prison sentence. This is a much more effective way of punishing people who act negligently, but without adding huge costs to insurance, products, or services.

Another episode of excellent journalism on a critical issue to California. This is a fine example of quality programming found on Youtube that you will not find on broadcast TV. Thank you once again Siyamak and team for your efforts to keep us well informed!

I’ll never shed tears for insurance companies. They are quick to take your money and slow to help. And when you have a claim, up go your rates.

Cynical as it may sound, I just can’t see insurance policies coming back down so for somebody like me that pays nearly $8000 a year. I can’t imagine that the policies are going to start coming down once things start getting straightened out.<br>Our insurance doubled the last 2 to 3 years. For years we paid almost 2000 and then it went to 4000 and now it’s 8000.

Unchecked and untracked State spending, bad policies, unelected electric cabals, and more is ruining CA, not just insurance costs.

Here we go again. Lets avoid the obvious. The insurance companies has not left california. Check their registration licenses. All they did is forced customers to switch over to CALFAIR plan where these insurance companies are operating within and gouging the public. Charge a little on alot or CALFAIR charge alot on a little. CALFAIR is not state nor federal operated nor regulated. It is privately owned and operated by the insurance companies are who ripping you proclaiming high losses. Insurance bureau of california has zero regulatory actions and no oversight of CALFAIR. Follow the money
