Disgust is exactly what helped me walk away. It works! Once the “love” and “attraction” is gone, there’s NO way back. 😊

Disgust as a useful emotional tool and *not a reason to feel shameful for feeling disgusted by another person's bad behavior. What a concept! I needed to hear this.

When I was a child, I turned this shame and disgust against myself, became depressive, later anorexic, hurt myself. I was always so understanding towards everybody's problems, didn't allow myself to have any needs, tried to help. If you told me then that I needed to feel disgust, I wouldn't have understood. I thought if I felt this, I would become so much worse than my parents, I would be unable to connect to anybody. I didn't want to become a bad person.

It took me years to be able to feel disgust for my father's behaviours, but I had to turn 41 to finally allow myself to feel this deep disgust towards my mother. I even felt rage and hatred towards her.

But nothing else happened, except maybe, I finally grew up at 41.

I’ve reached a point where I know exactly what a healthy connection looks like. The moment I spot toxic or covertly manipulative patterns, the attraction instantly dies. I’m immediately DISGUSTED.

Loving and respecting myself means I refuse to settle. I am no one’s mother, therapist, placeholder, or emotional punching bag. My time and energy are a privilege—meet me at my level, or be gone.

Absolutely. I had been with my husband since 2012, we had 3 kids together and something that I won’t share happened which direct impacted one of my kids. I was so violently disgusted in that plus an accumulation of other things that affected my kids I finally had the capability to leave. And leave without fearing who he’d end up with or being afraid he’d move on, I genuinely did not care anymore.

Honorable mention: when they start abusing the animals. Then you know you’re not crazy.

You cannot be abandoned if you don’t abandon yourself

Disgust was what helped me end a toxic relationship. I was in an anxious/avoidant relationship for 5 years (Im FA and my DA ex activated my anxious side). The second half of this 5 years dynamic i learned about complex trauma and attachment styles and started healing and gave him all the information i was learning but he refused to do anything with that information. Towards the end i could feel nothing but disgust for him. The way he treated me, his cowardness, his selfishness, ... Every time i thought about him my lip would involuntarily curl up from disgust. I was no longer willing to accept whatever he was offering, I was no longer willing to suffer like i was. Now there is nothing, no love, no hate, no disgust, just indifference. I bare no ill will towards him, but i just couldn't care less. It truly feel freed from the addictive feeling he was providing.

Yes, you nailed it! Reaching disgust is the game changer. The cowardess in lack of accountability. The projection and then the clinging…a very wounded child.

Your videos have added to my trust in myself, not that I by any means perfect but rather I am done carrying another and do work that he is too unaware or lazy to do.
♥️
