Who better than to read a beautiful letter than the talented Nathan Lane….after telling his own mother he was gay…she told him “I rather you were dead” but with his own wonderful sense of humour he told her “I knew you would understand”….once she got her head out of the oven everything was fine.

At some point, Nathan cried, I can only imagine what he felt reading such a letter.

I've loved Nathan for 30 years and counting. He can make me feel every emotion - make me cry as he has here, and render me doubled over with laughter at other times. He's a beautiful gift to us all.

A very powerful letter read by one of my favourite actors.

I came out as trans to my then 73yo Mum after battling with it my whole life, some 40 years by that point. I don't know what I was expecting but, "You're still my child and I love you" probably wasn't it! She was AMAZING about it and still is. My, also trans, best friend absolutely loves my Mum too, saying she proves that being anti-LGBTQ+ isn't a generational thing, it's a conscious choice. So, for anyone struggling to come out to their parents, they might just surprise you! Love yourself, be yourself and enjoy your life, it flashes by so quickly!

Feeling lucky that my wonderful Mum made the opposite journey and despite her generation and strong Catholicism, came to be more understanding, and voted for same-sex marriage in Ireland in 2015, and was hugely supportive of her LGBT son.

Simply beautiful, and it brought a tear to my eyes. Even Nathan Lane could barely keep it together.

I was ok, until Nathan started choking up.
