  Excellent job. You are a very skillful person. The comments made by others are very helpful aswell; bonded vs unbonded, interlock switch, turning on one breaker  switch at the time, co2 issues, pure sine wave, second source of energy as a solar battery are all issues needed to take in consideration when purchasing, installing and connecting a generator to a house.

  DON'T use grounding rod. It will ground through the cable to the main panel. Nice build.

  Perfect setup except for a few important details:<br><br>1. You ABSOLUTELY NEED to install an interlock device on the panel to keep the main switched off during an outage. If the main is left on you can backfeed the grid and kill a lineman working nearby. The setup you have is actually illegal in most states without an interlock.<br><br>2. thats the wrong generator for the application, that generator is great for a construction application, but it puts out dirty power which for a home with sensitive electronics having dirty power can damage those electronics. You need an inverter generator.<br><br>3. You do NOT want to ground the generator, you want a floating neutral on the generator, bonding the generator can cause issues. The generator should be using the same ground path as the panel does.

  You have done a fantastic job for your family, ,,, but incase you didn’t know,,, technically when you have a load on your generator for a while, you need to complete a cool down for 15 minutes so your windings will cool down,,,, it’s very important that you do this last step,,, good luck to you and your family buddy

  Great Job. But.... if you can. built yourself a whole house battery backup. I have the same setup up. But a few years back after Super Storm Sandy hit, I need to change that. The first reason was it was too loud (even if I had it running in my shed) and since I was the only one in my neighborhood with a generator I was sticking out. The second was I had to keep running around to get gas, even that I had 55 gallons of gas on hand when I lost power. But after 5 days I was starting to run low. Now imagine if every where was out of gas. I needed a better way to conserve as much gas as possible, But still have enough power to run my house. So now I have a full solar system with batteries. Now what I do is use the generator for 3-4 hours just to charge the batteries, when it&apos;s been raining or over cast for a few days. <br><br>Something to think about 👍

  Think about getting a generator interlock kit. This will prevent power from being backfed into the lines and potentially harming a lineman working on your power lines. They are super cheap. It’s worth taking a look at it. Great video, by the way.

  Gotta tell ya, there aren’t too many guys that impress me with their attention to detail. You sir, are completely anal about details and it shows in your finished product.. your design is pretty much exactly what I have been planning. My only deviation is that I am going to insulate with rock wool and then sheath the interior with cement board just because it will be very close to my house and not a concrete block wall.<br>Very well done, Sir!!

  Add an outlet, fed from the house &nbsp;in the genie shed and put a trickle charge to the battery to keep it charged and ready for that key fob.

  Excellent video production and quality and excellent build. &nbsp;You built a generator house, not a shed. It’s much nicer than the plastic ones made from Suncast boxes. I will copy this design when I build mine but will probably use rockwool insulation to hopefully further quiet the generator. I recall the embedded eye bolts. Is the generator chained or cabled down to those bolts? &nbsp;Some have installed rubber horse stall pads from TSC under the generator for noise reduction. A 110v outlet inside the box for a battery charger might be useful.
