Can I just say I love how perfect of a storm this has been?

It's so refreshing and interesting to see someone talk about these movies and books coming from the perspective of someone who is new to the universe, and especially of someone so well read and used to breaking down books, story, dialogue, characterization without prior influence from the starwars fandom.

It's such a different lens! So thank you.

I appreciate your talking about what you didn't like about the film, while acknowledging that others see it differently. One wishes this were a more common attitude in the fandom.

One of favorite lines from Revenge of the Sith spoken by Padme " So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause "

You know why I like merph she can give a well thought out take being critical about why she doesn't like something while also acknowledging the point or intent and what it could have been and that some people are just going to see it differently

I'm not a book reader, but if you wanted more Dooku, the mini-series Tales of the Jedi has three 15 minute episodes devoted to him. Especially the last episode in his arc is well worth a watch

I will always say that Episode 2's greatest weakness, above all else, is trimming down the Padme scenes. So much of those deleted scenes are building up Padme's life of service, her being almost enslaved by her compassion and sense of duty to others (parallel to Anakin being literally a slave made civil servant being what George was obviously going for), and how the attraction - while more explicit & intense on Anakin's side of things - is mutual... Way before Padme ever accidentally admits it by the fireplace.

If you liked Padmé in this book, you should check out her trillogy, Queen's Shadow, Queen's Peril, Queen's Hope, they focus on Padme's transition from Queen to senator, her first year as Queen (including the events of episode 1) and the imediate aftermath of Episode 2 respectively, and do A LOT for Padmé. They're YA books, and they're definitely not everyones cup of tea, Shadow and Hope especially are definitely not among my favorite SW books, but they're all fascinating and give a great window into the heads of Padmé and those around her.
