The original trilogy saw people fighting to regain freedom and democracy. The prequels showed us how easy it was to lose a democracy. The sequels should have been about how hard it is to keep a democracy on track

Yes, it would have been better if they had made three more movies showing that destroying Death Star did not immediately end a giant empire. There are certainly stories to tell about the battles that would still have to be fought.

If you want a good example of a sequel trilogy done right, read Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command. The remnants of the Empire are on the back foot, but still fighting to regain control, Luke is figuring out how to move forward as a Jedi, and the New Republic are struggling to keep their new government from shaking itself apart. It's a classic "We won. Now what?" story.

The sequel trilogy should have been about the legacy of Anakin Skywalker as a Jedi vs his legacy of his life as Darth Vader. Kylo would have been the perfect character to symbolize this clash.

I love the idea of making Phasma a space pirate. Makes me think of an evil version of Samus Aran.

The secret 5th option: just adapt Expanded Universe stuff since much of it is way better than what we got from the Disney trilogy

The fact that Rey identifies Han not as the rebellion general that played a big part in winning the war but as the self centered kinda a douche smuggler is the biggest insult to the OT…

This is probably the best rewrite idea I've heard. It is now canon in my head, thank you.

I don't care about the algorithms I just love King Criticals humor! Kidding: I cry over the mutilated kids every night, the horror needs to stop!

To be honest you fix a lot of issues that Rey had in the early parts of the film by simply including in tidbits like she had been helping with the repairs of the Falcon, which would have explained why she knew where to look to deal with the issues they had in the original episode 7, and explain her piloting the thing by having the comment of she had flow it before to help with moving cargo. Nerfing her blaster skill down to normal levels also helps ground her out. If she was not going to become a Jedi she would have had all the skills necessary to grow into the Han Solo role with all those skills being setup by throw away lines to fill out her backstory. At this point you cannot even call her a Mary Sue, because she had as much backstory as Luke had at that point in his movie.

Even having her have some talent with a lightsaber but needing someone to teach her to actually be good also does a ton to ground her. The foundation of Star Wars is in that you need to train to become truly strong.

Episode VII was a blatant copy of A New Hope. It also started a timeline, which lead to Palpatine being resurrected by JJ Abrams in Episode IX, negating Anakin Skywalker's selfless sacrifice to save his son, Luke in ROTJ. Episode VII was badly written by JJ Abrams, and supported by the totally inept and incompetent Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy.
