  It&apos;s an interesting tale regarding the horses. The cranes could lift 2 tons using 8 hourses, lifting 80 meters, and bring up 80 tons daily. It&apos;s said, due to the best care, they could live 6 years longer than farm horses. Few saw the surface again. The last horse, Baska/Barbara, was brought to the surface in 2002 after 13 years below ground. Apparently she had difficulty adapting to surface life and was removed to a special &quot;retirement home&quot;. The stables could house up to 350 horses and it&apos;s recorded that the stable caught on fire and burned for 8 months.

  I&apos;m still amazed the bread survived, even though it&apos;s logical that it did. Salt is amazingly handy.

  I visited the mine about 15 years ago. The place is astonishing. As the son of a coal miner this place resonated with when I was there. <br>I always wanted to visit a real mine, it&apos;s rare that you can visit a mine like this.<br><br><br>Poland in general feels like home if you&apos;re German, at least from my point of view.
