  I’ve seen minors get attacked/harassed online and even get called pedophiles for saying they were sexually attracted to other minors. People’s brains have truly melted.

  The fact that the creator for &quot;Scott Pilgrim Vs the World&quot; had to tell people that &quot;yes he knows that the relationship btw scott and knives was bad, and its wrong irl, and he doesn&apos;t condone it&quot; but he thought everyone already knew this and that he shouldn&apos;t have to tell people, shows the situation has gone bad.

  I saw a Tiktok comment recently that read &quot;[these types of people] use the word &apos;problematic&apos; the way that some christians use the word &apos;satanic&apos; to describe anything they don&apos;t like&quot; and I haven&apos;t stopped thinking about it since.

  When people say stuff like &quot;if you watch shows where the main characters are minors, you&apos;re a pedophile,&quot; it sounds to me like <b>they</b> only engage with media hornily, and don&apos;t realize that some people watch shows about characters they don&apos;t want to fuck. Like, that&apos;s the internally consistent explanation for this phenomenon that I can think of.<br><br>EDIT: If you think this comment is a condemnation of shipping in general or fandom in general, you are making some very sweeping and erroneous assumptions about both.

  &quot;If the author doesn&apos;t support it why is it in the game?&quot; Is such a horrific comment to make. At that point why have any conflict in any story? Forget media literacy, that&apos;s the death of basic common sense. I really want to know how it got this bad, because I&apos;ve seen this attitude across all age demographics.
