  Nicely done mate. Have made a few baskets and plenty of fish traps. One suggestion is to instead of trimming all the edge withies, leave a couple long, on each side where you want your handle. Then when you add the thicker ones for the handle, the ones you left uncut, which are already integrated in the basket, are woven into the handle. Makes it even stronger. I’ve followed your site for a number of years and enjoy what you post. Keep up the good work.

  Long ago i made baskets out of honeysuckle vines. Filled them with homebaked cookies and gave them as gifts. My Mom uses a basket for napkins in a daily basis. I made that one over 30 years ago.

  I love basketry. Last winter I started making birdhouses from willow with corn husk thatched roofs and selling them for $20 each. I could not make enough of them!  I also made a coracle a few years ago, which is a round boat. I even made my own coffin, ha ha. I have it in storage so my wife can stick me in it when I'm done. Basketry is great, thanks for sharing!

  This video is a great help to someone just starting out, thank you. I currently have much more delicate materials, but I suspect the finishing and handle methods will still be quite useful. I'm also looking to start a willow patch next year, so it's heartening to hear that willow takes off so quickly.
